Songkran

In April we went to Pattaya, Thailand for Songkran. It is a Thai
Buddhist New Year holiday where tradition holds that people would
take their Buddhas down to the river and wash them. They wash away
the previous year and greet the new year. It has turned into one big
water fight so we joined in the fun. There was no staying dry the
whole trip.

jello shots of various colors and flavors. They were packed in an
insulated back pack for the plane ride.

Drew and Pete bought “garden
sprayers” to get everyone else wet. This is Pete and Drew loading up
with cheap bottled water bought on the roadside

sprayers. The backpacks were very heavy when filled with
water.

We stopped along the street for a
snack of fried bugs. That is Debi leaning over to pick some
out.

If you look close you can see a
slug, a tiny frog, a scorpion and a really long legged
grasshopper.

The girls took off to a “man man”
bar called CHIPS to see the Thai men dance, and undress a little.
This is one of the different dances that the guys did.

Jill with her own dance partner. No
the wet parts aren’t sweat, that was from all the water getting shot
at us on the street. Also featured in the back is our friend Tammy
with a pair of guys.

Somehow even dinner turned into a
water fight

We all went out to catch the unique
night life in Pattaya

Can’t explain this one, you’ll just
have to figure it out on your own

Getting ready for the biggest day of
water fights

Soaking the passengers in a local
taxi

The whole crew and our truck. We had
5 garbage barrels for water and still needed to stop every hour for
refills or risk sitting in traffic with no ammo.

Action shot

Goofing off at our lunch stop

A view of traffic back towards the
beach

We didn’t loose this fight

A little wet and a pretty dorky
looking, but having fun

Endless traffic of water
fighting

Sneak attack with ice water

No mercy

These kids popped up at the last
minute to spray us

Jill trying not to get talc on her
face

Trying to refill one more time. But
saltwater is not considered “good sport”.

What a great time. Next we will have to make it to the Tomato
fight in Spain.
